\nthe earth speaks through the mouths of her children
\nthinking creatures passing beings
\na small miracle in the open space of the mouth spreading then
\ninto the open air between the sky and the earth
\ntransparent, diaphanous, misty tones
\nof Northern voices
\ncolours of ochre, earth, and fire of the Latin people in the South
\ncolours of stone and granite of Slavs
\na sonorous mosaic, a coloured picture,
\nvoices on the Earth\u2019s face, as flowers,
\na field of flowers, a different impression on the ear
\nwhen you travel,
\nand on radios, voice bearers in space,
\nyou marvel at the speaking people
