Il en reste une belle tour de d\u00e9fense m\u00e9di\u00e9vale. Au Moyen Age, elle marquait l\u2019entr\u00e9e du bourg primitif, alors fortifi\u00e9. Elle fut construite, il y a pr\u00e8s de huit si\u00e8cles, par un \u00e9v\u00eaque qui voulait prot\u00e9ger ses possessions des seigneurs de la Suisse al\u00e9manique. Enti\u00e8rement fortifi\u00e9, le bourg comprenait plusieurs maisons et trois ch\u00e2teaux \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur. Pris et br\u00fbl\u00e9 sous l\u2019\u00e9piscopat de Guillaume de Champvent (1231-1301), Villarzel perdit de son importance. Les pierres du ch\u00e2teau et de l\u2019enceinte servirent \u00e0 construire les maisons du village. La tour et l\u2019\u00e9glise furent \u00e9pargn\u00e9es. L\u2019\u00e9glise de Villarzel est mentionn\u00e9e d\u00e8s 1228 d\u00e9j\u00e0. D\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 Saint-Georges, elle se signale par son clocher en arcade original. \u00c9coute de musiques m\u00e9di\u00e9vales et r\u00e9form\u00e9es sur les orgues du temple. Visite anim\u00e9e par Daniel Thomas, musicien et licenci\u00e9 \u00e8s Lettres. Partie de la visite en plein air, pr\u00e9voir une tenue adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 la m\u00e9t\u00e9o.
